Examples of the Queen Anne Style

Grand Anne Bed and Breakfast
    The Grand Anne Bed and Breakfast is located in Keokuk, Iowa.  It was designed by George F. Barber in 1897.  The outside is very decorated with much ornamentation.  It is also characterized by towers and bay windows.  This mansion has 22 rooms.  The building has been redesigned to its original form.  Rooms for guests are found on the second and third floor.  It has detailed oak, cherry, pear and birds-eye maple woodwork with period brass light fixtures, and ornate ceiling medallions.  
Asymmetrical Massing
    This house is a fine example of a Queen Anne style.  The style's asymmetrical massing, use of decorated wood, and trademark tower were executed with fine craftsmanship.

    This house has many classic Queen Anne features, including the corbelled chimneys, assymetrical shape, wrap-around porch, 2/2 windows, and elaborate trim.
Henry Hoch
This is the Henry Hoch house of 1903.  The porch and its turned spindles wrap around the house.  It is unbalanced with tall decorative chimneys.  The roof style is very steep and there are never any flat surfaces.  
Redland, CA
This home is located in Redland, California.  It has asymmetrical facade with much decorative trim with a wrap around porch on the first floor, and a balcony on the second.  The roof takes on different shapes, and there are many windows.     
Livingston County, Michigan
This Queen Anne home is located in Livingston County, Michigan.  There is much gable detail on the exterior.  The tower, shape, and front porch make this a good example of a Queen Anne syle home.
Pedimented Gable
This Queen Anne style home is characterized by a pedimented gable roof, tower, ornamentation, asymmetrical shape, and an arched hood at the entry way.
