Classical Revival

The classical revival began around  the late 1890s and lasted until 1920. The style was based on Greek architecture with Roman influences. The idea was to create buildings of monumental size and grandeur. These buildings, mostly federal government buildings, display the importance of the Greek orders that were mainly used to create this style. Other prominent features of this style are symmetrical facades, pedimented windows, smooth or polished stone surfaces, and unadorned entablature and roof line.
